Newborn Screening Saves Lives Act of 2007 Passed

The Newborn Screening Saves Lives Act of 2007 has been signed by the President on April 24, 2008! This bill establishes grant programs to provide for education and outreach on newborn screening and coordinated follow-up care once newborn screening has been conducted. CDC Funding Announcement

The CDC has announced a funding opportunity entitled “Genomic Applications in Practice and Prevention (GAPP):  Translation Programs in Education, Surveillance, and Policy.” Potential projects should develop programs in policy, surveillance, or education related to genomic tests, family history, and other genomic interventions with the goal of improving health and preventing disease in large, well-defined populations or practice settings in the United States. Metabolic University Sept. 13-17
