New Guidelines on the Genetic Evaluation of Children with Intellectual Disabilities Published by AAP
TheAmericanAcademyof Pediatrics’ Committee on Genetics recently published new guidelines on the genetic evaluation of children with intellectual disabilities and global developmental delays. This report describes the recommended clinical genetics diagnostic approach, with the Chromosomal Microarray designated as the first-line test. The report also discusses the emerging literature on the use of whole-exome sequencing as a diagnostic test in this population.
