Mission:

The Weill Cornell Graduate School in partnership with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is committed to: Supporting the individual needs of diverse genetic counseling students and encouraging the growth of the genetic counseling profession through the advancement of training in the areas of clinical care, research, and education.

This highly interdisciplinary training program is designed to ensure that students develop the core competencies of genetic counseling and offers a curriculum that focuses on issues pertaining to human disease through examples drawn from clinical genetics. The new Program emphasizes translational learning models, allowing students to apply concepts taught during didactic lectures to clinical rotations.

  • Admission decisions are never need-based and we strongly encourage students from all backgrounds to apply. Once a student is accepted, the student meets with the financial aid office of the WCGS to assist the student in planning. Financing may include, but is not limited to:
    • Student Loans: for example: a maximum of $20,500 in Direct Unsubsidized Loan and up to the full cost of attendance (tuition, fees, room, board) with a federal Graduate PLUS loan.

    • Work study: Year 2 students will have an opportunity to be a Teaching Assistant (TA) to courses in the Year 1 curriculum ($5,000 per class, maximum of 2 courses per Year 2 student).
